While the room was plenty large to accommodate their things, they lacked the organized storage to put it all away. Being a New England family means having at least two full wardrobes for the warm and cold seasons. The customer also had a small walk-in closet which meant that much of their clothes had to be stored in a matching set of oversized bedside tables, under the bed, and occasionally on chairs (we’ve all been there). This made the space feel smaller than it should, and made getting to their things a challenge.

Like many of us, they had bedroom pieces they’d acquired over the years, but they didn’t quite match one another. Moreover, they were a style they felt was appropriate for their previous home, but not their current one.
The room itself, again, was quite large with vaulted ceiling’s giving it an even more expansive feel. The exposed beams of the post and beam construction are beautiful, but can pose some challenges as they make corners off limits.
We decided to maintain the layout of the room, but introduce a large six-drawer dresser along the east-facing wall. This gave the customer plenty of storage for all seasons of their clothes. This also let them scale down their nightstands making the whole space feel as large as it was.

In terms of style, the family decided to go with a matching Corinth bedroom set in black walnut. The texture of the facade played beautifully with the afternoon light that streams in through the rooms two skylights.
We love working with customers to introduce timeless style into their spaces, but it’s especially pleasing when a project solves livability problems. We’re confident this family will be enjoying their new bedroom for decades to come!

Keep track of unworn items
At the beginning of each season or twice a year hang items on hangers backwards on the clothes rod in your closet. Then hang any laundered item correctly. What remains hung backwards at the end of the season was unworn and a good candidate for the donation bin.
Use sachets
Use Lavender sachets in drawers or spritz the bed linens just prior to sleeping. The soothing aroma lulls you to sleep.
