Last Fall, my clients, Anastasia and Brent, realized their dream of owning a getaway home in the hills of Vermont. They live and work in Boston and love it. However, they were yearning for a home in the country where they could escape the daily stresses of city living.
When I met Anastasia and Brent, they had been all over New England looking for just the right pieces of furniture. They wanted quality, comfort and easy care. The furniture had to reflect their idea of a cool hangout for friends and family where everyone is welcome. The first time they walked in to the Pompanoosuc Mills, Hanover showroom, they fell in love. The furniture designs, wood tones and fabrics on display were just what they had envisioned for their Vermont getaway home.

When I met Anastasia and Brent, they had been all over New England looking for just the right pieces of furniture. They wanted quality, comfort and easy care. About a week later, one snowy morning, I was on my way to their Vermont home. When I walked in both wood stoves were going. The house had a warm cozy feel about it. We got right to work on the sitting area in the kitchen, which has a small wood stove and just enough room for two chairs and a small occasional table. The client had selected a meaningful piece of artwork for color inspiration in the sitting area. We decided on two Westmore chairs in walnut wood, then upholstered them in a durable fabric in a lively shade of red. The area was pulled together with a beautiful wool Turkish rug as well as the original art piece that inspired the room colors. Now the space has a very clean, warm mid-century feel to it.

We selected a Vernon extension table in a warm cherry wood. The table can seat four, for more intimate dining, or as many as ten. Just right for hosting holiday dinners. We toned down the colors a bit in this room by using a warm neutral fabric on the Fair Haven chairs. Then grounding the dining table and chairs with a beautiful rug in greens and blues. What a beautiful room for entertaining. It might be snowing outside, but the dining room wood stove will keep you warm and cozy.
